THEIR STORY | the design inspiration

"Christian Jorda and I have been together for over a decade. At 24 years of age, we are both happy, successful adults engaged to be married and still very much in love. When we first started dating, many people were skeptical about our relationship. They thought we wouldn't last and that we were incapable of true love. In my opinion, though love is a very complex idea, it is also a natural emotion that everyone feels at some point in their life if they are truly lucky. We were fortunate enough to find each other so early on in our lives.

Our Connection to the Empire State Building
Attending college in Hoboken, I was fortunate enough to have the New York skyline as my backyard. I loved and cherished every moment I was able to admire it. The Empire State Building was my night light for my 4 years at Stevens. I knew that it was midnight when the lights were turned off and that the colors of the lights represent something in honor of it. Christian and I would always look at it through my dorm room window. We also saw it whenever we went for a jog around town, studied together in the Howe Center, ate together in the cafeteria or whenever we just walked through campus together. When we're not together when I see it, I think of him because we always talked about what the color of the lights might mean for that night. It was a sort of guessing game that we played which neither of us would win but it was just fun to play. We found out about the Empire State Building Wedding Club from the many times we tried to “Google” what the colors of the lights meant on a particular day. Being married on top of the Empire State Building on February 14, 2007, our 11 th year anniversary would be the perfect beginning to our new life together and I couldn't wish for a more romantic way of marrying my childhood sweetheart. That way, the next time we see the Empire State Building after Valentine's Day 2007, it will mean so much more to me than just my college night light and our little guessing game."

THE INVITATION | a personalized vision

Elaine and Christian wanted an invitation that embodied everything they loved about a Valentine's Day wedding atop the Empire State Building.
